Fall/Winter 2011-12 Collection STREET - CHIC THE JOYFUL DUALISM OF RADA
03 May 2011 | World Fashion InfoMedieval liberty. A reminder of 50s America. A new street style: rough-chic. Material, two souls within the same piece.
As always, Rada enjoys, and is skilled at, mixing styles.
Plunging its hands into the trunk of costume history, interweaving apparently opposing ideas. Like Medieval-Deco with a glamorous feel: a snatch of soft, triangular jersey features collets inset with hard stones and beads, becoming both bracelet and band. The same jersey rolls up meekly on the framework of the fabric, with a pathway of gems, giving life to collars andnecklaces of high visual impact.
Ribbons of grosgrain house copper coloured cockerel feathers, along with pearls and small polychrome beads: old-rose alternates with jade green, and the soft shades of river stones. Elastic belts become the basis on which crystal and stone alternate, in complete black too, paying homage to the Eighties and disco-chic style.
Everything bears a reminder of sewn jewels. Of fabric, crochet, minerals and beads which anarchically come together to create new harmony. Cool pieces from the 2011-12 autumn winter fashion collection: strass collars/necklaces covered with a chiffon veil, torn in places to free the brightness of the light. Plumed gros bands for the wearer's hair, just like the Charleston girls. The reference to 50s American costume jewellery is ever-present in Daniela Ravaioli's imagination: and this time too there are unique pieces in macro sizes, for a jubilation of leaves, brass coloured flowers and hard stones. The new citrus grove chain stands out on which the small inflorescence of art Deco runs. Brass searches for the depth of deep red crimson-coloured stones, collected in bunches.
The colours of the palette are old-rose, jade green, citric, sugar paper, ruby.
Lastly, the bags: a world of soft, hand-painted leathers to create shades which turn into two or three tones.
