Marinai donne e guai

with a great looking record cover like this, I don't even particularly care if I like the music or not. But I did, at least half of it.

From Musicas dos anos 60.

music and sound-design cut from public-domain horror and science-fiction films from c.1930-1970

"Sounds to Come" is the second installment of a series on Chinstrap of music and sound-design cut from public-domain horror and science-fiction films from c.1930-1970. curated by our dear Ergo Phizmiz, available for your listening horror via Free Music Archive.

The aim of the releases is the reframing of digital artefacts - although the pieces have been recut and equalised, we are not aiming to present definitive versions of these recordings, we rather present the work for the possibility of further investigation into the composers, sound-designers, film-makers, and of course the films themselves, which are available, in the main, for free download at Archive.org.

Divorce Me C. O. D. Uh, Rhythmically and Bluesfully.

Today must be my day to find great cover versions of country hits. Though Everybody Loves a Fat Man is my favorite cut from this album posted at The Blues Collective, I'm loving Eddie Mack's Divorce Me C. O. D. too.

Golden Age of Gas Stations

Now that every trip to a gas station in the US is as welcome as a root canal (quit laughing at us, Europe! QUIT IT!) it's comforting to let Pleasant Family Shopping take us back to the days we could burn fossil fuels relentlessly without a care in the world. That word "humble" in the picture, I'm going to have to look that up, I'm not sure what it means.

This guy is having A LOT of fun!

From Wiki: Silly Putty (also marketed by other companies as Thinking Putty, Bouncing Putty, Tricky Putty and Potty Putty), is the Crayola-owned trademark name for a class of silicone polymers. It is marketed today as a toy for children, but was originally created by accident during research into potential rubber substitutes for use by the United States in World War II. The company's manufacturer is based in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Another Nickel In The Machine

Three rather wimpy 'Hells Angels' guarding 144 Piccadilly - 1969
Eel Pie Island, 31st August 1960
Adam Diment - the bang bang birds published in 1968

Another Nickel In The Machine is a blog about 20th century London (not particularly focused on the 60s), its history, its culture and its music. It is truly fascinating. Found thanks via Planetbarbarella.
