Sonakshi Sinha, Amrita Arora and Shahid Kapoor @ Ready premier

There are bollywood beauties sonakshi sinha and amrita arora and most smart personality shahid kapoor went to the premier of ready screening.

This is their photo gallery….

Today is lots of days...

...rolled up into one.
Firstly, and most importantly; today is my brother's birthday.  Happy Birthday, D!  D is my middle brother, and here's something funny... our girls shared one year at the same school, and at the first school function my friends all spotted this man in the crowds of other parents and knew instantly on first sight that he was my brother.  So I guess we look very alike!  D is a great Dad, a wonderful Uncle, and a fantastic brother.  I hope you found your prezzie last night.  Hint: look in your letter box...
Secondly; today is the first day of winter!  Thus my gloomy picture, matching the gloomy clouds above  (sigh)... but everyone is cheering for the few inches of rain we have had in the past few days.  Here's keeping fingers crossed for lots more, and a good year for our farmers.
And finally; the first day of Me-Made June!  Well, all is me-made here except the underthings.  And tights.  Tights are almost like underthings, right?
A random observation; thick tights plus thick hand-knitted socks makes for kinda tight shoes!  No matter, my tootsies are snuggly warm....

Just a few more pictures of the new doll that I've just completed. I made her a coat and a pair of suede tennis shoes. That coat took 2 hours to make. I stopped counting the hours by the time I got to the shoes. I really do this kind of thing because I like to, not for the money. I don't think people would be willing to pay for all of the hours spent.
I am happy that children all over will be playing with this doll.

Bad exposure, I know, but best one for true color of clothing

For a little while I was fascinated with the world of "art dolls." They are great fun, but it's not fair to tell a child that they aren't allowed to touch something that looks like a toy. I still like making them, but they cost a lot more than the ones for children, and there aren't as many people who want them.
What's really fun about sewing is watching a flat piece of fabric become sculpted into a 3-D form. And then when I paint on the face and add the hair, the magic really happens. The doll "comes to life." And of course you can't let them stay naked! I have great memories of the wardrobe that I had for my My Friend Jenny doll. My Mom sewed it for me for Christmas, and I'd had no idea at the time how much time and how intricate doll clothes were to sew!

Some dyeing...

My dear friend C gave me a whole bunch of fabric last night, following a major clean-out of her late mother's house.  Some of it is very nice, lots of it is... er, very green.  I am very grateful, however mindful of the fact that a person's wardrobe can contain limited amounts of bright green.
So this was today's activities...
Dyeing the paler green was my main aim, and it got boiled for the requisite hour.  I love the dirty khaki brown it has become, and even though I originally envisioned a Pattern Magic 2 thing I am now leaning towards a skirt.  The two darker greens were tossed in the leftovers, just because I thought "why not?".  They are less "St Patricks Day" now, and more "wine bottle", so a bit better.  I might do them over again, with a fresh batch of dye.  Another reason they didn't "take" as well is probably that they are mostly cotton.

At the same time, I noticed my T-shirt that I boiled in turmeric eighteen months ago had gone very pale.  Not enough salt?  So it enjoyed a re-spicing up.  Literally.  This time half a cup of salt went in, plus 2tsp turmeric.  We'll see how the colour holds up this time...

And in case you are wondering, that top pot is only used for dyeing.... I have no intentions of poisoning my family's soup!
